This past week she said this to my mom:  "I would really appreciate it if you would ...".  She's 4!  Our brains and language abilities are truly amazing things.

Rain storms in February because they remind us that spring is right around the corner.

It was +11 degrees C here on Friday, we got rain and we broke a weather record.  It felt and smelled like spring which cannot be too far away now.

I'm Back

Hi everyone!  I took a much needed break this weekend.  I started taking progesterone supplements last week and I've been totally and completely exhausted the past few days.  To the point of falling asleep on the bus on the way home in the afternoon which never, ever happens to me.  Now I have to make up for my absence with multiple reasons why I love my life!  ;-)

My mom and grandma who taught me to cook and bake.  I can do awesome things in the kitchen.  Oh, and it helps me to stay healthy too.  And I get how ironic that statement is given the photo below.  :-)

Being a non-traditional lawyer.  Or more like being a lawyer in a non-traditional practice area.  I have a very interesting job, I meet interesting people, have great coworkers and I get to wear jeans to the office whenever I want.

I can go from somewhat profound to almost silly in 24 hours.  And hey, this is just the sentiment of the day.  ;-)

Reason Why I Love My Life #5

Being from Saskatchewan (SK) I know that being small doesn't mean you can't change the world.

I'm from Saskatchewan.  Population:  barely a million. If you say 'Saskatchewan' some people will go 'huh?' and others will discount it for being totally inconsequential in the grand scheme of things.

But you know what?  If you asked Canadians about the things that they value most, the things that make them Canadian, the things which are part of their national identity I guarantee they'll talk about at least one of these things:

• arts boards
• human rights legislation
• medicare

Guess who pioneered all of these?  The people of Saskatchewan.  The first arts board in Canada.  The first bill of rights in Canada, before the UN Declaration on Human Rights.  And perhaps the one thing which Canadians feel defines them the most:  medicare.

Yes, my tiny home province did all of this in the face of what seemed to be insurmountable odds. We didn't listen to the naysayers, the corporations that closed shop and moved out of the province in protest, or the governments (in Canada and south of the border) that feared what we were doing.  Nope.  We did it anyway and our country is the better for it.

Change is possible.  I don't just believe it with every fibre of my being.  I KNOW it.

Because I can skate on the UNESCO World Heritage Site Rideau Canal on my lunch hour.  Not only that, it is the largest skating outdoor skating rink in the world.  How cool is that?
